The induction week

The Illamasqua presentation

  •    The make-up demonstration
The demostration of make-up which was made by a proffessional make-up artist, made me grow even more disire lo learn and improve my knowledge and gain day by day new skills in this domain.

First of all the make-up artist applied a Matte Primer and then concentered her work on the model's eyes. She began using the Honour and Navy eye pencil on the outer and inner corner of the eyes then blending and buffing it into the skin so that it entered very well into the skin. After that the make-up artist kept laying the eye-shadows. She used all the for colours from the eye-shadow palette, on the model's eyes.
The next step  was putting on the liquid foundation. The atist used a lot her hands, pressing in the colours and feeling the textures. She used five tipes (colours) of foundation,by mixing them on an artist palette, in order to create the shadow that was suitable for the model's skikn colour.
The other important step was highlighting the middle of the face. For highlighting the centre of the face, was used the Skin Base No.18 and was put in a really soft way.
It is important to put in evidence that highlighting the middle of the face is very important especially in fashion industry. It will put in evidence the face while the models are walking under the reflector's light.
It was impossible not to notice the make'up artist's  movement while applying the foundation: her hand (the brush she used) NEVER stopped.
To give an extra touch to her look, the make-up artist used a green lipstick.

Orientation exercise

During our Induction week we had to do an orientation exercise, in order to help us to get to know each other. So I've decided to interview Hariet Saloway (one of my peers) about her summer project and especially about her moodboard.
Hariet usually enjoys watching Youtube video, or spending her freetime reading magazines. She also adore surfing the internet on diferent websites such as Vogue. Everytime she is going in a shopping centre, Hariet spends lot of time looking and trying different make-up brands. She is always searching for new make-up products, trying to be well-informed on them.
Hariet did her research reading lots of magazines and she also loves doing sketches of eyes. It is noticeable if paying attention at her moodboard, as there are two nice sketches of eyes made by herself.
While speaking about her moodboard I asked her how did she feel about the final outcome. Hariet answered that she likes very much the colours that she used in it and she also thinks it reflects her personality as well. If she could make it again she would make it  more full.

Charles Fox- Kryolan

The founder was Arnold Langer who was a chemistry student, influenced by the glamour of 1920's, Berlin, inspired by the city's artistic expression. He combined his passion for theatre and science to create a revolutionary new make-up.
The talking we had during our lectures was a presentation of their cosmetics, which was really interesting because of the quantity of new thing I discovered. All those tricks that make-up artists use for making  the special effects are really amazing, as for example the blood or how to make viasually to dissapear tooth. This experience enforced my desire to develop my skills for this job.

Mask

We were asked to create a mask using a paper bag. Our mask was to represent who we would like to be in 5 years time . This was based on our mood boards that we created for our summer project. I wanted mine to look like a French painter, because that is how I see mysefl in 5 years, like an artist who's paints are on the people's bodies. That's why I made a red bered which usually is tipical for French painters. There is also a bow- which symbolises femminility, that from my point of view is fundamental for every girl/woman. Around the face there are musical notes which shows that music have always been important for me, as it creates my mood, it register different undatable and unforgetable moments of my life.
