One of the persons who I admire for his courage, ambition and desire to change the world in a better way, is Martin Luther King. He became the symbol of the struggle against racial segregation. His life was dedicated to the wellness of the people that in his view must have the same civil rights and who must live in a world where peace, equality and harmony prevails.
At the same time, Afro-americans wwre victims of racial segregation : it was forbiden to them access to many schools, sports clubs, recreation centres and etc. In fact the american Costitution decree the equality of all citizens before the law, but the things in realirt were absolutely different, especially in South. On jobs, the allocation of housing, even on buses whites had more rights than blacks. And blacks started their protest on a bus of  Montgomeri.

In the late fifties and early sixties, King became the undisputed leader of the movement for civil rights, arrested several times, he organized peaceful demonstrations and a boycott of those businesses where blacks were treated unfairly. In the summer of 1963 a procession of more than 200,000 people flooded downtown Washington invoking the Civil Rights Act. More than 80,000 participants were white and marched singing along with the others: ("blacks and whites together"). King was the last of the speakers and his speech was received with thunderous applause: "I have a dream - he said - that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. "
On the 4th of April, 1968, Martin Luther King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee, with a gunshot while he was on the balcony of a hotel.
Now, the question that surely appears is why I've chosen Martin Luther King as my New Elizabethan character. Well, from my point of view M.L.K.  managed to leave his mark in the history of the world. The ambition and the courage he showed, knowing the risks to which he is against, showed his strength and his love for the people.
I consider him Elizabethan just because precisely these qualities, which are qualities that the English people loved and still remember with much charm and love their Queen Elizabeth 1. She was admired because of immense strength.
Despite she was a woman, she managed to bring well-being and wealth on her territory. as well as M.L.K. despite being a black man, and although he had no rights, he succeeded in bringing to a successful conclusion his goal even at the cost of his own life.
