Practising the final design as a make-up artist

For our assesment we were devided into two groups and paired with another peer. We are having 2 different roles: while one of us is a make-up artist the second one is the designer an viceversa. So I met my peer who is the designer and I practiced her design on her in a role of make-up artist.
Thom Browne's Spring 2014 catwalk/inspiration
I had an interview with her about her design and her inspiration in order to get as much information as possible on what I'm going to work on and this is what she said: "My design presents the idea of  the Elizabethans using poisonous products on their face to create the white complexion and it damaged their skin.  By putting on the white base, it looks like they were wearing a mask and underneath the skin (I have used the eggshells on one side to show the cracking and damaged skin effects) was damaged and applying it repeatedly, it started to affect the whole face.I have put black eye shadow underneath some of the eggshells to create a more three dimensional effects and give shadows to the eggshells. Although the products that the Elizabethans used on their lips are not poisonous, but I think may be some of the white base will get onto their lips as well, so I have used a smudging lips to present the idea of the white base also affected the lips as well. My design is inspired by one of the makeup look from Thom Browne's Spring 2014 catwalk show. The blue smokey eyes there inspires me to use black smokey eyes. The reason I use black and gold eye shadow is because I want to present the idea of showing majesty and nobility which also links to 'The Phoenix Portrait' where Elizabeth I is wearing a gown full of golden beads and patterns and black work. The use of red lips on my design show power during the Elizabethan era and it also links to 'The Phoenix Portrait' as Elizabeth I pose confidently in the portrait. My design also includes the standard beauty from the English court such as the white complexion, barely invisible eyebrows and the use of white lashes to make the lashes invisible."

The final facechart

For creating her look I've used:

  • Prit stck (glue)
  • Primer
  • White base
  • Transluscent powder
  • Supercolor pallet(colors:gold and white)
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Egg-shelves
  • Red lipstick
  • Eye-lash glue
I started with blocking the eyebrows with a Prit stick glue. Then I applied the primer on the whole surface of the face followed by the whithe base.I've also covered the nech and the years with the same white base. After that I used a lot of powder to cover all the surface of the face in order to absor the moisture from the base. With the gold color from the Supercolor pallet I've done a kind of curvy lines that goes from the inner corner of the eye till half-way of the eyebrows, and then I applied the black eye-shadow on the eyes to create a smoky eyes look. I've used whithe color from the Super color pallet, and with a mascara wand I applied it on the eye-lashes, like a white mascara.  After that I applied a red lipstick on the lips and smudged it with a small sponge. And finally with an eye-lash glue I attached the eggshells contouring them in some parts whith black eye-shadow.
